Hello! I'm Ashwin.
Currently I am pursuing my PhD in Computer Science at the Institute for Visual and Analytic Computing leading the research efforts in robotics as part of CORE Labs focusing on Multimodal LLMs & Spatial Perception.
My research interests span Visual Intelligence, Temporal Graphs, Neuromorphic Systems, Embodied AI, and Mixed Reality. I am particularly interested in problems that leverage perception models to enhance autonomy and real-world decision-making in robots.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) in 2020, where I defended my thesis, "Design of an Electromagnetic Gripper for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles" at the Multi-Robot Systems group under Dr. Martin Saska.
I then pursued a Master’s degree in Robotics at Technische Universität Dortmund, completing my thesis, "A Monocular Vision Architecture for Fill Estimation in Shipping Containers" with the Robotics and Cognitive Systems team at Fraunhofer IML in collaboration with DB Schenker Enterprise Lab.
I thrive on adventure and the great outdoors—whether it’s backpacking through the wilderness, camping under the stars, or immersing myself in the ocean. I’m a hobby surfer and a PADI-certified SCUBA open-water diver, always seeking new experiences.
Beyond the outdoors, I have a deep appreciation for strategy and calculated risks, which led me to become an avid poker player since my school days. Creativity is another passion of mine—I enjoy painting and shooting film photography, capturing moments in a timeless, analog way.
On rainy days, you'll likely find me experimenting in the kitchen, listening to 80s rock classics, or reading a sci-fi novel.
